Profile

Nick started playing at Jesmond Dene (Newcastle) at the age of 14.

His first success came at the age of 17 when he won the British Under 18 championships as an amateur.  The next day he joined the ranks of the professionals.

Studying the game under Chris Ronaldson at Hampton Court, Nick progressed through the junior ranks, winning the British Under 21 and Under 24 singles and doubles titles.  In the senior ranks, he has won the 1996 US Open doubles title partnering Julian Snow and in 1998 he won his first major singles title: The European Open Championships in Paris.  Nick and Steve Virgona won the 1998-1999 season RTPA National League for Holyport.

On the 1st September 1998, Nick became the Head Professional at the Holyport Tennis Club and he celebrated his new appointment by winning the inaugural Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Classic Singles and Doubles titles.

In 2000 he won the US Open Doubles (partnered by Julian Snow), the British Pro Singles, the US Pro Singles and the Dresdner Kleinwort Benson doubles (with Mike Gooding). In November 2000 he and Chris Bray  won the British Open Doubles and then in January 2001, added the British Professional Doubles to their record. 

Nick has a beautiful classic game of tennis and is the favourite of the purists.
